Yes, it really is my Birthday today.  What I am asking people to do for me for my Birthday is to join TEAM SHELTER and help to end homelessness in our community.

Did you know that on any given night in Minnesota, over 13,000 people are without shelter?  It’s a great cause to work towards ending, and one I care about personally as an architect who has worked on shelters for people and thought about how to solve this issue over the years.  I’m totally on Team Shelter.

On July 23rd the United Way kicked off their Dream Team campaign, aimed at raising money for local charities in the Twin Cities.  The “Dream Teams” pair a local news personality with a local corporation. Each Dream Team aligns with a United Way goal to address our community’s most pressing problems. When you join a Dream Team, the corporate sponsor will donate $1 to that cause.  Once you join a Dream Team, recruit your friends, family, fans and followers to get in on the fun.  My friend Jason Matheson from FOX 9 is the Captain of Team Shelter and is doing a great job helping to raise money for this great cause.

All you do is sign up and Xcel Energy (the corporate partner) will donate $1 in your name to end homelessness in the Twin Cities.  It takes about 10 seconds and it's free.
